I believe sound is the final tether that pulls the viewer into the realm of believability in the fictional worlds created in film and television. Working with sound was never a choice I had to consciously make. Surrounding myself with sounds in any and all types of media—film, records, playing instruments—is something I have felt compelled to do for as long as I can remember, and has afforded me a wide palette of techniques and influences from which I approach and creatively treat my sounds. As a sound editor/designer, my work is motivated by my admiration and fascination for my predecessors who have dedicated so much time and resources into creating these subconscious tethers while simultaneously striving for their contributions to go unnoticed by their audiences in the theatre. In short, I admire the humble integrity of the craft and aspire to make even a small contribution to this field.
